Aug. 29th, 2004 07:47 amYou'd think I'd be sleep-sufficed by now--Friday night I was passing out at 9:30 pm, and I slept until 7 am on Saturday. After sending emails and making phone calls and whatnot, and reading a bit, I curled up on the couch and napped from 10 to 11 am. At which point I figured it was silly to nap on the couch when the hubby was still asleep, so I went and curled up around him. And we napped and dozed 'til around 12:30.
That felt SO GOOD. I haven't slept 'til noon on a Saturday in YEARS.
But last night by 9 pm I was yawning, and I was tucked in and snoring by 10:30. I thought for sure I'd be up by 4 am, but it was 7:15 before my eyes popped open. Yay!!
I just hope I can sleep tonight!
Friday was the hubby's birthday--we went to Fry's together on Thursday and got a voice recorder that came with Dragon Naturally Speaking and a set of headphones. Friday night I came home with KFC and some pastries from the nearby bakery, and we went back to return the headphones and get the headset we really needed. :) I rarely buy anything at Fry's without having to return some part of it; I know that return line very well indeed... From there we went for a walk and by then it was sleepy-time.
So yesterday we obviously took it easy. In the afternoon we ended up going to an art supply store to pick up some stuff--art supply stores are fun, particularly for me when I have something I know needs something "artsy" and I'm just looking around. In this case, the church is having a Ministry Fair in a few weeks, and I need something to advertise the Newcomers ministry--and it has to have a nautical theme, since that's the theme of the Ministry Fair this year. So I picked up some origami and have already made an angel fish--I figure I'll sprinkle origami sailboats and fish around our presentation, what the heck.
Then for a walk, to Mimi's for dinner (glorp!) and home again. Happy piggy. :)
Today at church the Sunday School hour for adults will be dedicated to discussing the schism, but I think I'm going to skip it to go to brunch with some friends. I have heard and thought plenty about the situation, and will be doing more over the coming weeks, and I know discussing it more in this context will just make me angry. The clergy have a job to do, answering everyone's questions "Why did they do it? what does it mean for us? what does it mean for our bishop and the US church? Why is sex such a big deal? Why can't we all just get along?" etc. and dealing with the various snobberies etc. that show up in a time like this--so many people have just NOT been paying attention for the last decade!!--and I think it will be more frustrating than anything else.
